rue-madame's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Size matters

Oh my god, people. The book that I designed (and that I will finally be paid in full for once Fedex shows up) is now number three on the New York Times bestseller list (paperback.)

Lets talk about some differences between CA and CT:

- Cop cars in CT are gray. In CA, they are black and white.

- Cement trucks in CT appear to rotate in the opposite direction of cement trucks in CA. I dont know if its the way they are painted or what, but when you see one on the road, it looks like its driving backwards.

- It rains when its hot here. In CA, it hardly ever rains, and when it does, its cold out.

- The coast is south. In California, the coast is always west. This goes a long way toward explaining why we always feel like were pointing the wrong way. I cannot get oriented to save my life.

- Garage sales are called tag sales.

The weekend was fun, but we didnt amortize the fun over three days. Friday was definitely less fun than Sunday, and Saturday was somewhere in between (as it often is.) Monday could be called medium fun.

Today is the first day of Terences summer hours. Monday through Thursday, he works from 8am to 5:15pm, and on Fridays from 8am to 1pm. I dont know what were going to do with that extra time on Fridays. I guess we should make elaborate weekend plans, and then get stuck in traffic with the other idiots?

Once were done acquiring a Fall-Winter-Spring house, well focus on the Summer one. Our dream, actually, is to own little spaces all over the place. Instead of having one giant palace, we want tiny pied-a-terres in different cities around the world. (NY and Paris for sure.) Whatever we buy here is just the first building block in what will hopefully be a passel of properties.

Its good to think big.
