rue-madame's Diaryland Diary

Home sweet home

We’re officially in the new place. I don’t know what to think yet. It may be because I am totally sleep deprived, sore and wearing a crazy outfit. I am the one who packed the clothes and shoes, and I can’t remember which boxes I put things in.

I know this, though: the old place is SPOTLESS. We spent 4.5 hours cleaning it on Sunday night (after we’d already spent 8 hours hauling crap to and fro) and everything gleamed. The move-out inspection was yesterday at 3 o’clock. We turned in our keys and the parking sticker, and now we only have to go to Hamden if we want good wine or grilled hot dogs.

TA is taking Friday off so that we can unpack and get the new place into some semblance of adulthood. We have friends arriving on the 20th and we want them to be comfortable. They will have to sleep on an air mattress, but their surroundings will be warm, and the windows (hopefully) covered for some privacy. (Painter’s paper taped over the window in the bedroom might be ok for us, but I’d like our guests to have a little more privacy than that.)

We’ve so far had our first meal (well, more of a picnic,) our first showers (we’re going to need a new head) and our first little sex romp. You could say the place has been christened.
