rue-madame's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

le soleil brille...

Our Magical Mystery Tour on Thursday took us down Interstate 95, over the George Washington Bridge and onto the New Jersey Turnpike.

In rush hour traffic.

It sucked.

Thank god I remembered that the 287 over the Tappan Zee Bridge down through White Plains is mellower. I think if wed had to doubleback over the Turnpike to sit in traffic jams, we both would have signed a double suicide pact and killed ourselves in the car. With the Ebay vintage table as our only witness.

But we made it back, safe and mostly sound, and the ebay table is ours! And its in pretty good shape! And it may in fact be original! The colored squares have a few stains and chips, but nothing horrible. Frankly, having a less than perfect object saves us from freaking out about the first ding. I wiped the table down, set it in front of the sofa and it looks so great. I really should upgrade to Gold membership just to post the photo. Or get one of those Flickr accounts all the kids are raving about.

Its so nice to have won a bargain on ebay. That coupled with our surprise tax refunds is making April pretty damn great. This time last year, I was in pain, and could barely even type at this keyboard. Its important to have an Oprah moment every now and then, to make a tidy list of things to be grateful for.

It could also just be that it is Spring, the sky is a clear Pyrenen blue, and everything feels shinier and happy. Even the hamburger I had for lunch winked at me before I bit into it.
